Most Elements papers are made from rice, not wood or hemp, so they're thinner and burn with very little ash (Elements Red is the hemp exception, more on that below). They come in three main sizes. Here's how they compare.
Elements size chart
| Size | About (mm) | About (in) | Good for | Elements papers in this size |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1¼ | 78 × 44 | 3.1 × 1.7 | The everyday size | Elements 1¼ (magnetic booklet), Elements Red 1¼ |
| King Size Slim | 110 × 44 | 4.3 × 1.7 | Long, even-burning joints | Elements Prism King Size Slim |
| King Size | 110 × 53 | 4.3 × 2.1 | Big joints, groups | Elements King Size, Elements Pink King Size |
Sizes are approximate. Brands cut their papers a millimeter or two differently, and the same size can vary slightly between batches.
Which Elements size should you get?
1¼ is the one most people reach for. Elements 1¼ papers come in a magnetic booklet that snaps shut, so the pack doesn't fall open in your pocket.
King size slim is the same width as a 1¼ but longer, for a joint that lasts. King size is longer and wider for big joints.
White, Red, Pink or Prism?
Three of Elements' four papers are the same ultra-thin rice paper. Elements Red is the exception: it's thicker, unbleached hemp, made for denser, moister flower.
| Elements paper | Made from | Thickness | What's different | Pick it if |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Elements (white) | Rice | Ultra-thin | The original: slow burn, almost no ash, sugar gum | You want the thinnest, cleanest paper |
| Elements Red | Unbleached hemp | Thicker than the rice papers | Elements says Red holds about 30% more stored energy than its rice papers, so it keeps burning through denser, moister flower | Your flower is sticky or fresh and rice paper keeps going out |
| Elements Pink | Rice | Ultra-thin | Same rice paper, tinted pink (color only, no flavor) | You want Elements in pink |
| Elements Prism | Rice | Ultra-thin | Same rice paper with the leaves in a rainbow of colors (Elements lists 7) | You want colorful papers |
Rolling tips for rice paper

Rice paper is so thin it can be a little slippery. Roll on a dry surface, keep your fingers dry, and use only a light lick on the gum line. Elements uses a natural gum made from sugar, which seals easily. A filter tip helps give a thin paper some shape.
How much does each size hold?
A rough guide for ground flower: a single wide holds about 0.3 to 0.5 g, a 1¼ about 0.5 to 0.75 g, a king size slim about 0.75 to 1 g, and a full king size or 1½ about 1 to 1.5 g. How tight you roll changes it more than anything.
